Orthodontic Anchorage Device

An orthodontic anchorage device is a small screw that is inserted into the jaw bone as an anchor point to allow orthodontic tooth movement. Such a device eliminates the need to use the natural teeth as an anchor point, and sometimes it can allow for the use of stronger forces to affect tooth movement. Oftentimes, the device can be activated soon after its placement into the jawbone.
